Here is a list of facilities available in each church to address accessibility issues. A review of our facilities is ongoing.
Physical Access:
The front door of Central church is accessible only up a small flight of stone steps, making wheelchair and disabled access difficult. Better access can be achieved from Parsonage Lane (up the right hand side of the church building), from which the church can be accessed through one of two side doors, and the link building through the other. There is a chair lift between the church and the link building.
Aural:
A public address system is augmented by a loop system for those with a hearing aid. Worship leaders have the use of microphones (including a clip-on radio mike) which are controlled remotely by a sound technician.
If you have a hearing aid, it should be switched to the 'T' position.
Visual:
There is a projection system in church linked to a computer, with a large screen at the front left of the altar area. If you require projection of any material (e.g. for sermon illustrations, images during prayers, Bible quotes etc) please advise the steward beforehand. Hymn words are usually projected, given enough notice during the week. Please ensure that you observe copyright legislation.
Large print hymn books are available on request.
Physical Access:
Ebenezer is built on a completely flat site with all available rooms situated on the ground floor. Therefore disabled access throughout the church is excellent. There is a toilet for the disabled next to the main hall.
Aural:
A public address system is augmented by a loop system for those with a hearing aid. Worship leaders may use a pulpit microphone, a radio microphone and a third at the front of church when necessary. These are not generally adjustable for volume during the service, but with a sound check can be adjusted before the service. There is also a mini-jack input if worship leaders wish to play music through the PA system from an mp3/CD player/mobile phone etc.
If you have a hearing aid, it should be switched to the 'T' position.
Physical Access:
Clifton is the least accessible of our churches: the door to church is at the top of a short but steep flight of steps, so unaided wheelchair access is impossible. The schoolroom underneath is little easier to access, since there are a couple of steep steps to negotiate at the church gate.
Aural:
The worship leader has the use of a radio microphone.
Physical Access:
St Matthew's can be accessed via the car park with two low wide steps up to the church door.
Aural:
A public address system is in use.
